Unity of All Religions

All religions proclaim the same truths. There is an underlining unity of all faiths. The varity of religions don't superseed one in place of the other, they compliment each other. Jesus even saw this when He walked on the earth. He came not to start a new religion to replace those that were already established.

Think not that I am come to destroy the law or the prophets: I am come not to destroy, but to fulfil (Matthew 5:18).

He came to fulfil the law, to be an example, not to replace it. According to the Cayce readings, the law is love and love is the law. Jesus as the Christ, was the perfect manifestation of God's love. Therefore He fulfilled the law. Other writings confirm that their scriptures are supplementary and do not supplant.

This that I am now uttering unto you,
The Holy Quran-it is to found
Within the ancient Seers' writings too;
For Teachers have been sent to every race.
Of human beings no community
Is left without a warner and a guide.
And aught of difference we do not make-
For disagreement there is none 'twixt them-
Between these Prophets. All that have been sent,
Have been so sent but One Truth to proclaim-
(Quran)

And again from the Quran:

Teachers are sent to each race that they may
Theach it in its own tongue, so there may be
No doubt as to the meaning in its mind.
An Arabic Quran is thus revealed,
That Macca and the cities round may learn
With ease the Truth put in the words they know.
For had we made them in a foreign tongue
They surely would have made objection thus-
"Why have not these revealings been made clear?"
(Quran)

Bhagavan Das explains:

The obvious significance of this remarkable text [the quote above from the Quran] is that the essentials are common to all religions: that Truth is universal and not the monopoly of any race or teacher; that non-essentials vary with time, place, and circumstance, that the same fundamental truths have been revealed by God in different scriptures, in different languages, through different persons born in different nations (The Essential Unity of All Religions, p. 63).

Thus we see that God, in His merciless love and desire that not one soul should be lost, has sent teachers to all races and nations to teach their people the One Truth in their own tongue and understanding.

As we search and study the scriptures of the world religions will find that the essentials are the same, be it from the Quran, the Bhagavad-Gita, the Kabbala, or the Bible (to name just a few).

Just as God is not a "respecter of persons," we should likewise. And as Paul admonishes:

Be ye all like-minded, compasionate, loving as brethren, tender-hearted, humbel-minded, not rendering evil for evil, or reviling for reviling, but contrariwise blessings...Be of one mind live in peace (Corinthians).

All religions should come together, being of like mind and perpose, and work together for the common goal of the One Truth. We should separate the essential from the non-essential and focus on those things that are essential.

It is my prayer that we will work together to build a better world.
